
Staff Reporter : A short training and drill on evacuation during earthquake and fire hazards, and drill on fire fighting incident was conducted at BUBT under the guidance of the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defense. The aim of the training and drill was to aware mainly the members of BNCC, Rovers, Security Guards, and Class IV employees of BUBT and to prepare them for responding immediately during earthquake and fire hazards.

The training started at 3:00 pm at the International Conference Hall of BUBT. The program was chaired by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of BUBT, and Professor Md. Abu Saleh, Vice Chairman of BUBT Trust and Advisor, BUBT was kindly present as the Chief Guest.
The training session on (1) the roles and responsibilities of the Department Fire Service and Civil Defense, (2) actions before, during and after the earthquake hazards, and (3) actions during fire hazards was conducted by Mr. Raihanul Ashraf Hossain, Senior Station Office, Fire Service and Civil Defense office, Pallabi, Dhaka.

During the speech of the Chief Guest, BUBT Trustee Professor Md. Abu Saleh emphasizes the awareness and preparation for the earthquake and fire hazards, as we cannot stop many hazards, particularly the natural ones.
Session chair of the training program, Professor Dr. A K M Shawkat Ali mentioned about the safety concern of BUBT authority and holding of at least two evacuation and fire drill in every year. He appreciated the trainer and all participants.
Wing Commander Md. Momenul Islam (Retd), Proctor, BUBT thanked the Chief Guest and the Session Chair for their kind presence, welcomed all the participants in the training session.

After the training session, the evacuation drill on earthquake and fire hazards was conducted. After blowing the siren students, all members of BUBT came down from the campus buildings, and assembled at the Open Space of the campus.
Hon’ble Treasurer, deans of all the faculties, Registrar, Director, IQAC and Proctorial team members, faculty members attended the program.
Thereafter, a fire drill was executed at the Open Space by making fire, where students and other employees particularly newly joined ones participated in extinguishing fire using different types of fire extinguisher bottles.
The training session, and the drill on evacuation during earthquake and fire hazards successfully completed at about 6:00 pm.
