A permanent state of peace is a Geopolitical Myth. Scratch the surface of any era of so-called tranquillity and you will find not harmony, but a temporary cartography of exhaustion—a ceasefire drawn in the sand by parties too weary to advance.

Those who, in that deceptive calm, abandon their vigilance and surrender their arms are the ones who are erased. That is the only lesson history ever teaches.
