Staff Reporter : Bangladesh Mess Association (BMO) has welcomed the coming New Year and urged landlords not to increase rent. As soon as the year comes, some hostile environmental hazards or discrimination is observed between tenants and landlords. Which is very undesirable and unwelcome.
Which is not only a bad look in the society – rather, it is indecent or eternal self-infighting is also a kind of internal conflict. The interim government will have to play a role on a priority basis to end such a situation. Not only that – in the future, if the number of members of the advisory council of the interim government is expanded, a representative of the Mess Association should be included in it.
In this demand, a human chain program was held by BMO in front of the National Press Club on December 4 (Thursday).
The program was moderated by Ayatullah Akhtar, Secretary General of the Mess Association and twice-contestant mayoral candidate in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections. Notundhara Bangladesh NDB Chairman Columnist Momin Mehedi, Journalist Nasir Uddin Bulbul,
Wazed Rana, among others, spoke at the event. In the program presided over by Syed Akhtar Siraji, the speakers said that the four fundamental principles of the constitution and all other principles derived from them are considered the fundamental principles of state governance. But the cruel and cruel irony of fate is that even after 54 years of independence,
the fundamental rights of all the people of the country have not been ensured. Many people are still homeless. Secondly, those who live in rented houses in the city understand the pain of renting houses firsthand. Therefore, according to the verdict of the Honorable High Court, the irony of renting houses must be removed. At this time,
Momin Mehdi said, Advocate Manzil Morshed, a lawyer who won the National Award for Public Interest Litigation, informed the BMO representatives about the house rent case that the verdict had been passed. Due to the passing of a judge, the case was sent to another bench for hearing. But now it is no longer on the list of hearings. As a result, public suffering related to house rent is increasing.
Good relations between landlords and tenants must be maintained. BMO told the respondents that it is necessary to implement the law to end the hatred or disputes related to rent and reduce public suffering. Mess Association Secretary General Ayatullah Akhtar said that the tenants of the city, especially employees, laborers, and students, are shocked by the huge increase in mess/house rent every new year.
A major part of their income goes to house rent. Secondly, one class of house owners increases the rent abnormally in the new year. No one wants an unbridled increase in house rent in the coming new year 2026. Our demand is that house rents should not be increased unreasonably under any circumstances. The directives of the High Court Division of the Supreme Court should be followed in determining house rents.
Leaflets of the 13-point demands of the Mess Sangha from the human chain were distributed. One of the demands was job quota reform. It achieved success in the July Revolution. Condolences were expressed to the victims of this revolution. At the same time, if the scope of the current successful interim government is expanded in the future, a request was made to include a representative of the Mess Sangha there (in the advisory council).
