Mohammad Basir-Ul-Haq Sinha  :  Iran’s top security official has offered to take charge of Donald Trump’s “urgent psychiatric treatment,” claiming the US president’s recent behaviour demonstrates a clear need for medical intervention.

Speaking after a closed-door meeting in Tehran on Tuesday, Ali Larijani, the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, characterised the US president’s recent actions and statements as a combination of “insolence and madness”. In what appeared to be a semi-satirical but pointed threat, Larijani expressed Tehran’s willingness to detain Trump in order to provide him with “high-quality care.”

“If Trump’s insolence and madness continue, we will remove him from power and bring him to Tehran for treatment and trial,” Larijani said. “A large pair of special handcuffs and a padded cell have already been prepared for him in advance.”

In a further embellishment, Larijani added that, under a “treatment and food for work” scheme, Trump would be tasked with translating the Epstein files from English into Farsi while in custody.

The remarks prompted an immediate but private reaction from the White House. A US official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that upon learning of the Iranian threat, the president initially became agitated but was later said to be “visibly deflated” and has since been telephoning various figures in an effort to de-escalate tensions.

In Moscow, the Kremlin responded with characteristic ambiguity. Vladimir Putin issued a brief statement offering logistical support, saying: “If Tehran genuinely wishes to treat Trump, I will provide high-quality transport to convey him there.”

The Pentagon has declined to issue a formal response to Larijani’s comments. However, Israel’s prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has reportedly been instructed to remain in his bunker for the time being as a precautionary measure.
