Ajkerdesh.com Desk : Tun Myat Naing, commander-in-chief of the Arakan Army (AA), which has seized most of Rakhine State including the entire border with Bangladesh, sent a congratulatory message to Bangladesh’s newly appointed foreign minister, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, saying there is now an opportunity to establish a new era of friendly relations between Rakhine and Bangladesh.
In the message sent Wednesday, Major General Tun Myat Naing expressed hope for practical, sustainable, and feasible solutions for Bangladesh-Rakhine ties.
Myanmar regime Foreign Minister Than Swe also sent a congratulatory message to Rahman.
A senior official from Bangladesh’s Foreign Ministry told the state-owned BSS news agency that the messages from both the Myanmar regime and the AA reflect the outcome of ongoing engagements. He added that such contacts and discussions demonstrate their confidence in the new Bangladesh government’s ability to resolve the Rohingya issue peacefully.
Rahman recently confirmed that Dhaka has maintained contact with both sides on the matter. Bangladesh has also been working with other key countries and the United Nations to achieve a swift and sustainable solution to the protracted Rohingya crisis.
